I kept a good GPA in high school and studied for the ACT but not to the extreme, I really focused on getting involved in school clubs and activities to make myself standout, I was involved with these things for all four years of high school including community service. I also spent a lot of time on the writing portion of the application.

If you're from Ohio, have gotten to know even one teacher beyond a first name basis, got more than a 500 on ANY section of the SAT and can fill out the common app. online... you are beyond in. You may as well start drinking now!

If you want to get into Miami get involved in as many extracurricular clubs in high school as you can and get decent grades. The standards are getting lower and lower to get in so you'll probably stand a good chance of getting in, unless you are stupid.

I had a 3.8 GPA and a 30 ACT score. I did two varsity sports in high school and had very little extra curricular outside of sports and very little volunteer hours. I had great letters of recommendation. I was also accepted to the honors program.
